Telehealth / Virtual Visits
F.A.Q.
What do telehealth (Virtual Visits) look like with Children’s Therapy Solutions?
Telehealth appointments are virtual therapy sessions conducted through a secure platform (Google Meet) with your child’s regular therapist. It is used as a temporary option when an in-person visit is not possible.
Is telehealth a replacement for in-clinic therapy?
No. Telehealth is not a substitute for regular in-clinic therapy. It is a tool to help maintain consistency and prevent missed sessions when challenges arise.
When can my child use telehealth instead of coming to the clinic?
Telehealth may be used occasionally for reasons such as inclement weather, transportation issues, temporary scheduling challenges, mild illness, or recent exposure to illness when staying home is recommended.
How do I request a telehealth appointment?
Families must call the office to discuss moving to a telehealth appointment. A minimum of 1 hour notice is required to change an in-person appointment to telehealth. The therapist and scheduling team will determine if telehealth is appropriate.
Who decides if telehealth is appropriate for my child?
The therapist determines clinical suitability on a case-by-case basis, in coordination with the scheduling team.
What do we need for a telehealth session at home?
You will need:
-
A caregiver available to assist or supervise
-
A quiet space with minimal distractions
-
Any toys or materials recommended by the therapist
-
A device with a camera, microphone, reliable internet/cellular connection, and access to email or text messages
How will we receive the telehealth session link?
If the telehealth visit is approved, a secure Google Meet link will be sent by text or email attached to your child's profile before the session.
Are all therapy services appropriate for telehealth?
No. Not all therapy services or goals can be addressed effectively through telehealth. Some sessions must remain in-person for clinical reasons.
What happens if we use telehealth frequently?
Frequent reliance on telehealth may prompt a review of your child’s therapy plan and consistency of care to ensure clinical effectiveness.
Do attendance rules apply to telehealth sessions?
Yes. Telehealth sessions follow the same attendance and scheduling policies as in-person visits, including late arrivals, same-day cancellations, no-shows, fees, and attendance infractions.
What if we miss a scheduled telehealth session?
Missing a scheduled telehealth session without proper notice will be counted as a No-Show or Same-Day Cancellation, in accordance with the Attendance Policy.
Can the clinic move my child’s appointment to telehealth?
Yes. Children’s Therapy Solutions may automatically move appointments to telehealth due to inclement weather, building closures, or other unforeseen circumstances. You will be notified if a change to a virtual appointment is needed.
What if we do not want to attend a clinic-directed telehealth session?
If you prefer not to attend a clinic-directed telehealth visit, you must request a scheduling change. Attendance policies still apply.
What if my child is sick?
Telehealth may be an option for mild illness if your child can still participate. If your child is too ill to engage, the appointment may need to be canceled according to the Attendance Policy.
Who can I contact if I have questions or need help?
Contact the clinic as early as possible. Clear and timely communication helps prevent attendance issues and allows our team to help find solutions.
