EVALUATION:

A comprehensive evaluation is conducted when a child is referred for speech therapy, feeding therapy, and/or occupational therapy. The process begins with the parent completing an intake form, which helps the therapist select appropriate testing materials and provides background information on the child in need of services.  Evaluations use a combination of standardized testing, parent interview, and informal observation. Once the evaluation is completed, you will be provided with a detailed assessment that will include recommendations as to whether therapy is warranted, recommended frequency and length of treatment sessions, and a detailed treatment plan.

THERAPY:

Speech Therapy, Feeding Therapy, and Occupational Therapy are offered at our clinic located in Burleson. Therapy is individualized and implements a variety of programs and techniques. Home practice programs and family education are an integral part of the therapy process, in order to allow for optimal carry-over of skills learned in each therapy session.

SCREENING:

A Speech and Language screening is a 15-20 minute, informal assessment of your child’s use and understanding of language, production of speech sounds (articulation), social language skills, vocal quality, and fluency.  A screening allows us to determine if there is a need for further evaluation.  If your child does not pass the screening, a comprehensive speech and language evaluation is typically recommended.  Your child may benefit from a speech and language screening if you have concerns regarding the areas mentioned here, or if he/she is not meeting age excepted speech and language developmental milestones.
