Telehealth / Virtual Visits
Quick Guide

Why Telehealth?
Consistent attendance is essential for your child’s progress. Telehealth is a temporary option to help maintain therapy consistency when an in-person visit isn’t possible. It is not a replacement for regular clinic sessions.

What Is Telehealth?
-
Secure, live video sessions via Google Meet
-
Conducted with your child’s regular therapist
-
Interactive and goal-focused when clinically appropriate

When Telehealth May Be Used
Telehealth may be approved occasionally due to:
-
Inclement weather or unsafe driving conditions
-
Transportation issues
-
Temporary scheduling challenges
-
Mild illness (child or family member) when participation is still possible
-
Recent exposure to illness when staying home is recommended
Requirements for Telehealth Visits
Families must provide:
-
A caregiver available for supervision or assistance
-
A quiet space with minimal distractions
-
Common toys/items as requested by the therapist
-
A device with:
-
Email or text access (for Google Meet link)
-
Reliable internet or cellular connection
-
Camera and microphone
-
Clinical Considerations
-
Not all therapy goals or services are appropriate for telehealth
-
Clinical suitability is determined case-by-case by the therapist
-
Frequent telehealth use may result in a review of the therapy plan
Requesting Telehealth
-
Notify the clinic as soon as possible
-
Minimum 1-hour notice required to switch from in-person to telehealth
-
Approval is determined by the therapist and scheduling team
-
Approved sessions receive a secure video link by text or email
Attendance & Scheduling Expectations
Telehealth follows the same rules as in-person visits, including:
-
Late arrivals
-
Same-day cancellations
-
No-shows
-
Attendance infractions
-
Fees and scheduling consequences
Missing a scheduled telehealth session without proper notice will count as a No-Show or Same-Day Cancellation.
Clinic-Directed Telehealth
CTS may move sessions to telehealth due to:
-
Inclement weather
-
Building closures
-
Other unforeseen circumstances
If you do not wish to attend a clinic-directed telehealth session, you must request a schedule change. Attendance policies still apply.
Communication & Partnership
Early and clear communication helps prevent scheduling or attendance issues. When families communicate promptly, we can often help find solutions and continue supporting your child’s progress.
